Atlantic Harp Duo

Elizabeth Jaxon & Marta Power

Midwest Tour 2019

1 November 2019

This October, brought our storytelling show “Fables, Myths, and Fairy Tales” to audiences in Michigan and Illinois, where we also be celebrated the launch of our album “Ariadne Rediviva”. It was a fully packed week, with seven concerts in just six days. But it felt good to be back on the road together again, after both having taken time off to grow our families!

Kicking off the tour, our first stop was the Interlochen Public Radio (IPR) station, for a live interview, which you can listen back to here. It’s the perfect introduction for listeners to hear the background story of the music we were playing and how it fits together to tell the mythical story of Ariadne. Many of our pieces have been commissioned just for this program, and we’re thankful for this chance to let them be heard.

Our opening concert took place at the colorful and eclectic Music House Museum of Traverse City.

Our tour then brought us down through the Interlochen Center for Arts, where we performed for the students there. Our program combined storytelling with music, and the audience appreciated the extra dimension that the stories brought to the program.

In Illinois, we performed in Chicago, Elburn, Waukegan, Geneva, and Batavia before wrapping our harps back up and heading home. We loved including listeners from all these places on our journey and can’t wait to be back again!
